At Thompson & Troupe Foundation (TTF), we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and play in a safe and nurturing environment. While education is often associated with books and classrooms, we recognise that play is equally important in a child’s development.

January 2026 TTF was delighted to donate a brand-new playground swing to The Phase 2 Basic School in Clarendon, Jamaica. This special initiative holds a deep personal connection for our Foundation, as the school was attended by some of the children of our Founder during their early years of education.

Returning to a place that helped shape the lives of our family and community members made this donation particularly meaningful. It was our way of giving back to one of the schools that has played an important role in nurturing young minds for generations.

More Than Just a Swing:

To many, a playground swing may seem like a simple gift. However, for young children, it represents so much more. Swings encourage physical activity, improve balance and coordination, develop motor skills, and provide opportunities for social interaction and imaginative play.

Research has shown that active play contributes significantly to children’s emotional well-being, confidence, and cognitive development. A playground is often where children learn valuable life skills such as sharing, taking turns, building friendships, and expressing themselves creatively.

The addition of this swing provides a safe and enjoyable recreational space where the children can experience the joy of childhood while developing essential physical and social skills.

Investing in the Future:

At TTF, we understand that investing in children means investing in the future. Every smile, every laugh, and every moment of play contributes to building healthier, happier, and more confident young people.

Seeing the excitement on the children’s faces as they explored their new playground equipment was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Small acts of kindness can create lasting memories and have a meaningful impact on a child’s daily experience at school.

Our Commitment Continues:

This donation is just one example of TTF’s ongoing commitment to supporting schools and communities throughout Jamaica. Through educational assistance, school supplies, community outreach programmes, and infrastructure improvements, we remain dedicated to creating opportunities that help children thrive.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff, students, parents, and wider Phase 2 Primary School community for welcoming us and allowing us to be part of this special moment.
